Anne Quigley’s lovingly crafted music is appreciated for its quiet, understated strength. Now she has written a setting of the Mass which embodies all her familiar qualities. The musical ideas, in a modal G minor key, are repeated throughout the setting, and their simplicity make it well within everyone’s capacity while retaining their compelling quality.
The Gloria is the most difficult text to set and this one is a model of what it can be – unshowy and flowing. The pew edition includes a dialogue version for easy learning for the congregation, helped by the choir.
